"Following the Footsteps of the Jesuits in Beijing - A Guide to Sites of Jesuit Work and Influence in Beijing"
(vous pouvez vous procurer cet ouvrage à l'Institut Ricci de Paris - 10€)
THE BOOK
This illustrated guidebook presents sixteen sites in Beijing related to the presence and work of the jesuits there. They are arranged so that they can be visited on five day-long tours.
The sites are presented primarily in their chronological order, but also with attention to their geographical proximity and to practical details, such as what bus to take or what directions to give a taxi driver for each place. Each has its own chapter, with a brief summary of its historical background and a reflection on its significance for the twenty-first century.
The material is arranged in a way that is informative, reflective, and inspiring for the readers, who might range from the general public to the interested scholar.
Four appendixes give information on the most famous Jesuits in Beijing, the most famous Chinese converts, the Chinese dynasties and emperors, and the main events related to the Jesuits and to the Jesuit sites in Beijing.
